When looking at magazines and other sources of advertisements, viewers will quickly notice the abundance of ads trying to sell melatonin decreasing products. An example of these selling blurbs: "The Belo Essentials with Dermlight Skin System is unparalleled technology that use natural ingredients of Alpine plant extracts, California prune fruit pulp and skin vitamins that work synergistically to achieve whitening results in just 7 days. Skin lightening effect is faster and more noticeable, resulting in that radiantly beautiful Star White glow." The growing trend in Filipino tabloids is articles comparing the skin tones of celebrities in the past to their present pigment color. This is to note the fact that as celebrities reach popularity, the color of their skin whitens. Could we assume that the lighter skinned a celebrity is, the more popularity and success they will gain in the future?
